A graduate of Brigham Young University, she spent four years at Book craft as an assistant editor, then became associate publisher of This People magazine. For nine years, she has worked at Deseret Book, the last four as vice president of publishing. She also had the opportunity of writing biographies of President Benson and President Hinckley. She has been Relief Society president and member of the Relief Society general board.

Chelsea Shields
Chelsea is a PhD candidate at Boston University in biological and cultural anthropology studying the evolution and elicitation of placebo and nocebo effects in indigenous ritual healing ceremonies. She particularly focuses on the healing rituals of the Asante in Central Ghana whom she has conducted research with for over a 12 years. Chelsea is also a well known religious gender equality activist in the Mormon community, President of Mormons for ERA, co-founder of LDS WAVE (Women Advocating for Voice and Equality), and active participant in many LDS magazines, blogs, podcasts and conferences.

Award by the Italian Government, named the “International Trust Women Hero 2014” by The New York Times, “One of 25 women under 25 to watch” by Newsweek, a “100 Top Woman” by the BBC and the SAFE Global Hero.
